Dear Somerton and Frome voters, thank you for trusting the Green Party with so much of your support; more than 1 in 20 of you voted for us, and our vote share was much more than the national figure. Sadly all the opposition votes did not come near to David Warburton’s majority, as we predicted. We now have a Conservative government with a large majority for five years.
This seems a daunting prospect, but we need to hug each other close and start again. We need a strong community now more than ever, and we can work with our friends and neighbours to reduce the worst of climate change, and change our society to be fairer and kinder, as we always have, one act after another. We can do this. It doesn’t stop.
